Will a patient’s insurance pay for this?
No. However, the cost is comparable to what a patient would normally pay in co-pays or for other programs, and patients can use their flexible spending accounts, or FSA’s, for reimbursement.
Are all insurance companies accepting NewTri as their pre-operative education?
At this time, we are still working with insurance companies to share our program. So far, most insurance companies have been eager to offer patients the NewTri experience. Please contact us if you would like us to speak to an insurance company about NewTri.
How long does the program take to complete?
We recommend that the program should last twelve weeks. In the program’s default setting, each time a video is completed, the next one is unlocked. Patients can always go back and view previous modules but can not jump ahead to the next module. However, these setting can be personalized based on your practice's philosophy and preferences. For example, surgeons can allow the patient to have all modules unlocked and complete the program at their own pace. Comprehension assessments can follow any timeline that surgeons choose.
How many attempts can a patient have with the comprehension questions?
One. We would like patients to remain engaged and take these assessment quizzes seriously without the ability to go back and change their answers.
How do my patients obtain their NewTri completion certificate?
Once patients have viewed all modules and completed all comprehension quizzes, a patient will receive a completion certificate. This certificate will also provide their comprehension score. The surgeon can then decide whether the patient needs more information on a subject prior to the operation. The surgeon decides who is ready for surgery.
What happens when the patient completes the program?
The patient will receive a certificate that is personalized for their program and surgeon. Both the patient and surgeon will be notified that the program is complete and they can schedule a final appointment prior to surgery.
What are the perks of the free patient-tracking system?
Surgeons and their programs will be able to see their patients’ level of engagement—how often they log in, the percentage of the program they have completed, how many modules they have left, areas of strength and weakness, and food and exercise logs.
Will the system notify patients if they haven’t logged in for a while?
Yes. The system notifies patients through email and text to foster ongoing engagement.
Is there any cost to the surgeon or the practice?
No. The patient pays for their participation in the program.
